Psychotherapy
I am an experienced psychotherapist (registered with UKCP since 1998) working with adults in private practice. My approach is underpinned by a view that our sense of ourselves is impacted on by our early formative relationships and experiences, and how this can have a subsequent effect on the way we feel about ourselves, live our lives, and enter into relationships and situations in the present. It also incorporates an acknowledgement of the significance of the wider social context and how this may contribute to and influence how we may think and feel about ourselves in the world.
Supervision
I have also worked as a supervisor since 2005, providing supervision with individuals and groups, including supervising two groups a week while teaching on an MA/Post-Graduate Diploma in Counselling within a University for over 8 years. My approach to supervision aims at developing strong reflective practice, and to provide a supportive and collaborative space to open up possibilities of meaning in the work.
Previous Experience
Before becoming a psychotherapist I worked for over 20 years in training and development in a range of settings including youth and community work, housing and social services, adult and higher education, developing staff and managers at all levels of the organisation.
